PERISCOPE

A country house in Parnassus, a winter refuge in an idyllic landscape, with the backdrop of the edges of the wild forest.

Two iconic elements, a stone base mass and an archetypal depiction of the ideal residence, a wooden mass with a gabled roof, reminiscent of a ‘birdhouse’. The stone base constitutes the public, ground floor space of the residence on which the most private part rests, an independent guesthouse, with the quality of a ‘lookout’, framing the unobstructed view above the trees to the enchanting forested mountain massif. The stone, elongated base runs parallel to the boundary of the plot and is interrupted to create an indentation in its body, within which lies the entrance.
